The White House needs to hear loud and clear: We want cleaner cars and stronger fuel economy standards. Tell President Obama that cleaner cars and ever-improving standards are here to stay! Take action today!

Dear Friend,

It may take years to fully appreciate the impact of the Gulf Oil spill, but one thing is crystal clear: if we want to avoid another environmental disaster, we must reduce our dependence on oil.

More than a year ago President Obama announced a historic agreement on new national standards to cut global warming pollution and raise fuel economy of cars and trucks for model years 2012–2016. That agreement required months of tough negotiations with the auto industry and a strong commitment by the Obama administration.

But ultimately, the leadership behind the "clean cars" agreement put us on a path to greatly cut our global warming pollution, reduce our oil dependence, strengthen our economy, and steer the auto industry toward a clean energy future.

We need the President to continue to lead so that progress won't stall in the future.

This month, the Obama administration begins developing new fuel efficiency and carbon pollution standards for cars and trucks through the model year 2025. It will also set fuel economy and emissions standards for heavier trucks, from urban delivery trucks to 18-wheelers, for model years 2014–2018.

Ensuring that our cars are as clean as possible is the best way to help move our nation toward a cleaner energy future.

That's where you come in. The Obama administration has another battle ahead of it, and in order to take bold action on fuel economy and pollution standards, the White House needs to hear loud and clear from the American people: We want cleaner cars and stronger fuel economy standards!

Take action now by telling President Obama that cleaner cars and ever-improving standards are here to stay, and urge him to set new pollution and fuel economy standards that will reduce our dependence on oil and create a cleaner energy future:
