From the Inbox: "Locos"

NRDC Action Fund: Mobilizing America for a Sustainable Future
July 8, 2010
Dear Friend,

In this powerful new ad, renowned environmental activist and celebrated actor Edward James Olmos explains what makes people "locos" when it comes to energy and the environment.

Now, as the Senate decides, we need to let everyone hear Olmos' message.

Please help us run this ad on TV in key states!

As the saying goes, "one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Sadly, that's exactly what we've been doing for decades in this country -- maintaining policies that keep us "addicted" to fossil fuels instead of moving toward a clean, prosperous and sustainable economy. Dirty, dangerous energy sources have caused serious harm to our economy, to our national security and of course - as the horrible Gulf oil disaster illustrates - to our environment and to our fellow American citizens.

Fortunately, as Edward James Olmos so eloquently explains, there's a better way forward than driving ourselves "locos."

Please help us run this ad on TV in key states!

If you believe, as we passionately do, that it's time to kick our addiction to the dirty fuels of the past, then please help us get that message out there. Help us air Edward James Olmos' ad on TV in states with U.S. senators who we believe can be persuaded to vote for comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation.

If we can convince our politicians to do their jobs and to pass comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation this year, we will be on a path to a brighter, healthier future.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Peter
