Dear Friend,

Corporate coal companies are pillaging Appalachia. Over 1 million acres of the most biodiverse temperate forest in the world, 500 mountain tops and 2000 miles of rivers and streams have already been destroyed by mountaintop removal coal mining (MTR). When can we put an end to this insanity? Now!

Donate today to help end MTR in 2010.

The violent process of MTR exposes the people of Appalachia to millions of pounds of ammonium nitrite fuel oil explosives every day, blankets their communities with sulfur-filled coal dust and poisons precious waterways with toxic coal sludge and slurry.

We cannot stand by and allow this reckless destruction to continue!

Please help us raise $15,000 for our campaign to end MTR in 2010.

We all have a stake in this issue. As our allies in Appalachia say, "we all live in the coalfields." Every time we switch on a light, power up a computer or recharge a phone we are part of the dirty energy chain that is poisoning Appalachian communities, contributing to climate change and threatening precious biodiversity. But we are all also part of the solution, ending mountaintop removal and building a clean energy revolution is something we can and must do together.

Together we can build a national movement to end MTR once and for all.

Donate today to help us reach the $15,000 budget needed to end MTR this year.

Whether it's five dollars or five thousand dollars, the ancient mountains, sparkling streams, iconic wildlife and culture-rich communities of Appalachia are worth every penny. Thank you for being a powerful force in the movement to end MTR.

For the mountains,

Rebecca Tarbotton
Acting Executive Director
