From the Inbox: Toxic Soup for Sea Turtles?

Take Action

The Gulf Coast home of sea turtles and other cherished wildlife like the brown pelican and bottlenose dolphin is becoming more toxic each day as more oil is spilled into the sea.

Last week, in an attempt to alleviate the oil spill, BP poured a chemical dispersant into the Gulf. Mixing with oil and water, it's creating a "toxic soup" in the habitats of wildlife that will potentially grow to hundreds of millions of gallons.

It's obviousnot only do we need clean energy solutions, but we urgently need to address the impacts our dirty energy choices already have on wildlife.

After months of anticipation, a draft clean energy and climate bill was introduced today in the U.S. Senate.

This bill provides your senators with the opportunity to dedicate billions of dollars to deal with the impacts that dirty energy choices are already having on wildlife.

The horrific events of the past week have proven that it's not enough to invest in clean energy technologies. It's not enough to hold polluters accountable. We need to do more to protect wildlife.

Make sure your senators do what it takes to make the clean energy and climate bill truly work to protect AND restore America's wildlife and wild places.

Sincerely,
