| Dear Friend,
Today is “for the birds”. Why? Because it’s Migratory Bird Day! What better way to celebrate than by providing a welcoming haven for our feathered friends? We’ll show you how!
Because of development, climate change and invasive species, nearly one-third of our nation’s birds are endangered, threatened or in decline. With so many threats today, our nation’s birds can use all the help they can get.
Here are 5 easy ways to help birds today (and every day!):
- Choose the right birdhouse. Different birds require different homes — we’ve got several options to help you find a birdhouse that’s just right for your yard.
- Watch for birds in your yard or neighborhood. Then report back your findings to NWF’s Wildlife Watch program and find out what other birds people are spotting in your area.
- Enter NWF’s photo contest. Take your best bird photos and submit them today! Whether you’re a professional
or just starting out, National Wildlife® Magazine’s 40th Photo Contest has a category for every nature or photography enthusiast. - “Adopt” your favorite bird. Your symbolic adoption will help protect birds and other wildlife across the country. Plus, you’ll receive an adorable plush of your choice. Now with over 10 birds to choose from!
- Turn your yard into a sanctuary for birds. Then, complete the easy application to register your yard as a Certified Wildlife Habitat™ site. You’ll not only attract beautiful birds and other wildlife, you’ll also receive all the benefits listed to the right!
From tiny hummingbirds to curious chickadees, so many birds are relying on you to protect them. You can make a difference today simply by supporting National Wildlife Federation — it’s as easy and fun as hanging a birdhouse or turning your backyard into a welcoming habitat. You’ll be glad you did!
Sincerely,
